Background
The Blaine County School District needs our help to support our public schools. Our students deserve a better education than the state of Idaho is willing to pay for.
What Will the Levy Pay For?
The proposed supplemental levy will provide funding for the salaries and benefits of staff members running programs for which the state of Idaho provides little to no funding.
Revenue and Funding Challenges
Flat local revenues, flat and uncertain state funding, the expiration of the current Supplemental Levy, and rising fixed costs are contributing to projected deficits in excess of $4,000,000 for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years.
The School Board is Committed to a Stable and Sustainable Budget
The School Board is committed to addressing the district's long-term financial challenges by employing every available strategy: reducing expenses, strategically adjusting staffing, improving operational efficiency, and securing levy support. Only through a combination of these measures can they ensure a stable and sustainable budget for the future.
The School Board is dedicated to paying staff fairly in line with the cost of living in our community, while also preserving valuable programs that receive minimal support from state and federal sources.
What Will it Cost Taxpayers?
As proposed, the supplemental levy will cost Blaine County property owners no more than $16.33 per $100,000 of assessed property value annually for the next two years.
